Food can be found on the map and you can use Pick Up and Drop action for getting it into the Inventory.
Food can be found almost everywhere. Food appears in chunks.
You may also Get Food from your own colonies and Give Food to yours and all allied colonies. Colonies have a storage of food used for feeding the colony.
This way you may help your (or other) colonies to tell them to just expand (or produce warriors maybe) and you provide the food.
